A Welcome home....by designer Amanda Burdge

"Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make ME happy or unhappy. I can choose which it shall be, today. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it."
Groucho Marx

I came across the above quote by accident the other day, as I was serving the web. I had seen this stunning home on Cote de Texas that immediately made ME happy and I thought I'd share it here with you today in hopes to make YOU happy. To see the post click here.

I love this entry. The door is unique and the decor is simple and easy on the eyes.

What a stunning and beautiful room. It's easy, and a great place for conversation with friends.

I can envision myself here with close friends, giggling over coffee, and gossiping about
so-in-so's best recipe's and fantasizing about lazy Sunday Bar-B-Que's.

And after a hard day of friends, food and laughter, retreating to this heaven of a place for a perfect night of slumber. Ahhhh.

  2. I love what they've done with the interior - very plush and lovely - their master bed makes me just want to snuggle up and doze off to dreamland. =)

  4. I was very interested in this house when I saw it on CDT, as I have family house hunting in that neighborhood. It's lovely, but oh my Lord, the price!

  6. Excellent quote Amanda. The entryway is eye-catching and open, we would just need portable bars to keep the kids and dog out of it so the room would stay nice.

  7. Yes, a beautiful room indeed. But personally, I don't like entering immediately into the "main event". I would like to see here more of a sense of entry. Different flooring, a potted tree to obscure, the hutch placed perpendicular perhaps. What else creative readers?

Amanda...love your internal locus of control.

  11. Beautiful! I love the natural light and those huge windows. My Husband would have never let me have that house because of the asbestos siding.

  13. Dearest Amanda,

What a lovely post you have here; I am all for simplifying but never compromising on elegance or authenticity. I love what the homeowners or designers did to this down-to-earth home. It is comfortable but what a flow of elegance! It takes a lot of thought and time and of course, training in your situation, to create such bliss! Thank you for coming to visit and leaving a comment! My sister-in-law has found the style and mode of living that is so perfect for a peaceful living space. Small or grand, a home can benefit from the heart for beautiful décor! Please come anytime!
