6 ways to enjoy a Saturday

As the summer comes to a close our days get shorter and our nights get cooler. Fall will quickly approach us and before we know it, snow, sleet and rain will be upon us. Enjoy these last days of Summer with the ones you love because before we know it, Mr. Winter (booo!) will be here, and we will all be crying about the cold, freezing weather, wishing that Summer were still here!

Get outdoors. Open windows, and doors and let the sunshine in! Listen to the birds chirp, the lawn mowers hum, and the wind blow through the trees.


Spend it with family. Yes we can't choose them, and sometimes you swear you were born into the wrong family...but no matter what, they are always there for you (because they have to be!) to love you, support you and laugh and cry with you!


Spend it with friends or family out on the lawn. Remember days gone by, and laugh at all the silly things you did when you were younger, and thought you were smarter, but not nearly as great as you are today!


Have an afternoon cocktail, and a snack, laugh, and gossip amongst those that you love. Indulge yourself, be decadent and go all out for an afternoon tea.

Hang out with friends and family while you play games, go through old pictures,
or show off that new hobby you took up over the Summer. 


Have an unbelievably rich meal under candlelight. Satisfy all your senses, pamper yourself, 
and wallow in the luxury of the outdoors.

Goofing off, acting out, and playing hooky, by Amanda Burdge

As I have mentioned before, blogging is definitely a winter sport. I am finding myself easily distracted by simple shiny things like S-U-N, 85 degrees, floaties, and booze...I mean a nice cool beverage. Now I should be doing VERY important things (like pushing papers from one side of my desk to other side) but instead I am straining like a naughty Jedi to keep my cool and refraining from lewd acts of acting out, goofing off, and just being plain irresponsible!
Now I know that this is an intelligent (who are we fooling?) blog of important topics, great design tips, and encouraging photos of pretty, marvelous things. The idea is to be motivated and inspired, right? As a "creative" blogger I strive for this goal everyday. Bringing you, my faithful followers, inspiration and imagination.....until the sun comes out, and I'd rather be goofing off, acting out and playing hooky.

Apparently, these Nashville Target shoppers are so energized by the sun, they have forgotten their manners, caught the H.D.A.D.D bug and forgot what their mamas told them about putting their stuff away! For those of you unaware about HDADD, it's a new form of A.D.D, that I myself have invented, and it's A.D.D in it's clearest form.

So in an effort to appear professional, accomplished, and most importantly competent, I will leave you with a few pics of beautiful pools, because after all this is a blog about great tips, imagination and pretty things. I can at least attempt to bring you this blog's purpose, even if it is a half witted effort, right?

Celebrate Memorial Day

Memorial Day is a holiday that many look forward to. It brings a three day weekend, and it is the official kick-off to summer. It represents parades, picnics, barbecues and baseball games. It truly is an All-American holiday. What is sometimes forgotten are the reasons we have this holiday, and that it symbolizes the sacrifices of every American soldier in the time of war and conflict. 


Many have lost their loved ones- Husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, and friends who have made sacrifices for the preservation of our freedom. And as the death toll in Afghanistan passes a thousand, this year's memorial holiday takes on a more poignant meaning. 


I'm reluctant to go off on a rant about a heart-felt remembrance of those who have paid for our freedom, giving up their tomorrow's for the conservation of our today's. After all, this is a blog about pretty, shiny, decorative things-right? Well I suppose my point in all this is that Memorial Day is more than just a three day weekend, and a shopping extravaganza for the best deals on the planet. (At least that is what it seems to be all about according to the newspaper. BUY, BUY, BUY here are the BEST Memorial Day Sales this weekend!) This holiday commemorates those who have given their precious lives in defense of the United States, and our liberty.

As we remember the sacrifices of the nation's servicemen and women, we pray for the souls of the fallen, let us also pray for those who are still fighting for our freedom, those who are paying for our freedom, giving up their tomorrow's for the conservation of our today's.

Say good-bye to winter!





As we approach spring and gently glide into summer people always gravitate towards bright fun colors. And who wouldn't after the dreary days of winter. It freshens our interiors, and reflects the long sunny days driving us to summer solstice. I always tend to gravitate towards oranges. To me it is the epitome of a July afternoon with a summer dress and margarita in hand.
Summer is also one of my favorite times to decorate. It creates a fun, flirty mood in all clients, and we all crave cool soothing colors. Clients are always the most adventurous during summer months too. But don't let the economy get you down.
